Addictions Care Center of Albany: “An Apple A Day” Program

An Apple A Day © is based on the theory that resiliency skills in children may be developed and nurtured through a program that teaches literacy skills, which, in turn, build, teach, and reinforce ideas, messages, and talents that promote healthy lifetime habits.

 

Five Rivers Conservation Council: Conservation Club

Scholars will receive an environmental education; this program gives them a sense of place in a world that is slowly losing its connection with nature. Scholars will learn about the water cycle, human impacts, environmental ethics, and the nature that is everywhere.”

 

Girl Scouts: Year of the Girl!

Scholars will put their best self forward by embracing the power within themselves and making healthy choices inside and out. They will define what a healthy, strong and courageous girl is, in 2012 and beyond.

 Girl Scouts: (3rd & 4th Grade) Diva Development

Scholars will learn about culture, the positive roles of women in society and leadership skills. We will help girls to develop a healthy self esteem, gain leadership skills, as well as learn about who they are and what they can become in the future. 

 

Albany PAL: Arts & Crafts

Scholars will learn, understand and practice how communication and collaboration is essential during group activity.

 Albany PAL: Cooking

Scholars will be taught how to calculate serving sizes, prepare various foods and learn the importance of healthy eating choices.

 Albany PAL: Karate Program

Scholars will be introduced to a distinctive style of Martial Arts. The club will emphasize different forms of attack and defense using both hands and feet. Scholars will be taught to show proper respect, maintain self control and develop good character.

 

15 Love: “ACE” Program

Scholars will take part in activities designed to support academic achievement, health/wellness and social/emotional skills, when combined with our tennis program, it provides important developmental assets and reflects the ideals and principles of Arthur Ashe by giving children access to as safe, healthy and educational opportunity.

 15 Love: Tennis Program

Scholars will take part in skill drills, games and competitions to learn, help or develop their game of tennis. This program will provide a strong emphasis on education, good health, family preservation, multi-cultural relationships and good sportsmanship.

 

BCCSG: Dance Club

Scholars will be taught basic hip hop dance routines. The dance club will focus on motor movements, fitness, promoting teamwork and building our scholars self-confidence.

 BCCSG: Step Club

Scholars will learn basic step/drill routines. The Step/Drill club will focus on motor movements, fitness, promoting teamwork and building our scholars self-confidence.
