Dear BC Families,

Welcome to the 2021-2022  school year. During the summer, our staff has been diligently preparing to provide your scholar with the best quality education in a safe environment. We have reflected on schoolwide data, learned new instructional strategies, and set schoolwide goals.

This school year we will continue to follow guidance provided by the NYS Education Department and Albany County Health Department. The most recent guidance for schools dictates that students should wear masks in class; therefore please ensure your scholar comes to school with a well-fitting mask and an extra mask in her book bag each day. Upon arrival your scholar’s temperature will be taken and she will receive hand sanitizer. We will continue with cohorting scholars and will have subject area teachers transition to classrooms with the exception of P.E., where scholars will transition to the gym. Scholars will continue to utilize desk barriers throughout the day and eat in their classrooms. Scholar hand sanitation will occur before and after all meals. We will continue to sanitize scholar desks and frequently touched points throughout the building at least twice a day. Our goal is to make sure our building is safe and all scholars remain healthy.

As with all schools around the nation, our scholars have been impacted academically and social emotionally by the ramifications of COVID-19. Our teachers will receive Professional Development on best practices in the classroom for scholar remediation. This includes a morning meeting curriculum which will be utilized to target social emotional topics and intervention blocks to target academic gaps. Our school has also purchased an online assessment and instruction program called i-Ready that helps teachers provide all students a path to proficiency and growth in reading and mathematics.

We look forward to our continued partnership and a year of high academic and social-emotional gains. I welcome your input into creating a successful learning experience for our girls.

Empowering All to Learn, Lead, and Grow.
